GAY WINS HERO'S CHARITY RACE AT LINGFIELD SATURDAY 20TH MARCH 2010
Lingfield dedicated Saturday's meeting to Hero's rehoming of racehorses charity including a race by trainers and ex jockeys.
Gay partnered one of the horses she trains at her Newmarket yard, Eastern Gift and had been quietly confident that this year this race would be hers. She was not wrong.
Anyone who knew Gay in the days when she was a jockey will know that she had an art of timing her races to perfection. This race was no exception.
Placing Eastern Gift in a handy position throughout she took the iniiative on the final bend and finished ....cosily.
Many thanks to the owners, Checkley, Partridge, and Palver-Brown for allowing Gay to ride their horse. Everyone had a great day for a great charity cause.

HAPPY DAYS FOR TRAVELLER KELLEWAY
Trainer Gay Kelleway was one of the happiest buyers when getting very first lot offered, a £25,000 Oasis Dream filly sold from Con Marmane's Bansha House Stables, who will race for a partnership headed by Pinner-based Bill Rogerson.
"I think her being lot 1 put a lot of people off, but I thought she breezed just about the best of anything here," said Kelleway, who has been on her travels over winter. "I've been to Dubai where I found new owners, and went to Australia where I spent time with David hayes and Gai Waterhouse.
"I've got a racing manager now, Robert Greenwood, that lets me go travelling and we've got 32 horses of which 16 are two-year olds. They are the way forward now, it's a no brainer with the Bonus there."

Kempton 3rd March 2010

John, Steve and Jimmy
Gay invited three gentleman from the RAF to join her in the parade ring when Hawanna was running on Wednesday night. John Morgan was on his leaving do and Kempton Racecourse was chosen as the venue.
John, AJ and Jimmy (but particularly John) could hardly believe their luck when Gay asked them to join her to meet the owners, the horse and the jockey. John is a massive horse racing fan and was thrilled to not only meet Gay but to stand next to Steve Drowne - and shake his hand!
It's all great PR and with an open invite to the lads to visit her yard and see the horses working in Newmarket it's a great way to get more people involved in this Sport of Kings!
Thanks to Gay, Hawanna's owners, Dave Joslyn, Paul and Thelma and of course Steve Drowne - you made those lad's day - and probably made John's year!

Put her down John!
