Ascot Charity Race
Women in Racing did a terrific job of organising a ladies charity race in aid of BHEST in support of their Racing to School programme. Queen Alexandra Stables had two horses in the race, one ridden by Gay the other, Burning Stone ridden by Emma Littmoden. Approaching the final two furlongs where Gay had been making the running since the flag was dropped, Emma very casually drew upsides Gay to take up the running and win by six lengths, with Gay having to resort for second place!
Welsh opera singer Shan Cothi, entertained Ascot’s bumper crowd of almost 27,000 with her singing voice in the paddock before riding the Tim Vaughan-trained Tae Kwon Do into fourth place. Beccy Green, PA to Ascot’s Clerk-of-the-Course, Chris Stickles, and Tammy Masefield completed the line-up.
